I speak 4 languages (Spanish, English, Catalan, Portuguese), but understand 6 (plus Italian and French) and I am particularly perceptive of body language.

I love drawing. My head is always distracted with an overwhelming abundance of ideas to draw. In retrospect, I see I should have studied fine arts and never listened to my family, who said I had to study economics or another more "serious" degree, and that I'd get nowhere fast with art because it's so hard to make money with it.

Yeah. Right. Well...

Fuck money.

Money is the manifestation of our collective insanity.

I remain deeply rooted in art, even though my creativity was suppressed during the long years I spent in University, studying journalism and translation (no, no way I'd have gone for economics).

But art, for me, is serious.

It makes me happy and feel that life, despite all the pain, is worth living.

This year I took up the challenge of going back to drawing and producing one drawing a week. I'm trying watercolour for the first time and I find it really difficult. My stuff is posted on the website for the 52 things a year under the name of Stella Fernandez.

Also, two years ago I teamed up with my friends and lover to found an English language Theatre Company in Barcelona called Playtime. We only stage original, unpublished scripts and hold open castings to aspiring or professional actors. I love acting, it helps to get to know myself better and control my body and my mind. I took drama classes for two years as a teenager, and now... well... now I'm back on stage!
